Host a film screening:
If you are interested in hosting a film
screening of the ESPN-produced short film,
Kabul Girls Club please let us know. The
film documents the story of two Afghan
female soccer players who received the
Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the 2006
ESPY Awards. It describes the struggle that
Afghan women now face in their country’s
transition to peace; as these girls fight
for their right to play, they are making a
statement about their proper role in
society. Please contact Awista Ayub
regarding your interest to host a film
screening. We've prepared an
information letter describing what would be
involved in hosting a screening at your home
or office.
AYSE Equipment Drive:
If your team would like to donate new and
gently used equipment to teams in
Afghanistan you are in luck! We've set
up a way to send the equipment to
Afghanistan with minimal cost to shipping.
We thank Major Thomas Brouns and Dave
Emerson for their assistance in support of
this project. We've prepared a helpful
information sheet with instructions on
sending the shipment.
All Afghan-American Girls Leadership
Team:
AYSE is committed to helping foster a
society where every child is embraced as an
integral members of the community both in
Afghanistan and the United States.
Although our focus is on the youth of
Afghanistan we aim to inspire
Afghan-American girls to become leaders in
their American communities through sports.
Our first endeavor toward achieving this
mission will be the start of an
Afghan-American girls club soccer team lead
by a previous AYSE soccer coach, Azita
Munsif. The girls soccer team will not
only learn how to play soccer, but they will
engage in healthy competition, learn how to
work together as a team, and be exposed to
successful leaders in our Afghan-American
community who will engage and inspire them.
We also believe that giving back to the
community is a vital responsibility of any
citizen and volunteer service will an
integral aspect of team membership.
If you are a parent and would like to find
out how to have your daughter involved in
the program, or if you are an
Afghan-American female soccer player and
would like to become a member of the team
please contact
Awista Ayub for more information.
